The Matkus story

Ingka Centres is a global shopping center concept owned by IKEA Group, operating in the Nordic countries, elsewhere in Europe and also in China and Russia. Ingka Centres manages and develops shopping centers anchored by IKEA shops.

Ingka Centres owns a total of 45 shopping centers in 15 different markets. All these shopping centers, meeting places for people, have a total of some 480 million annual visitors. Read more about the locations and the background of our operations on the Ingka Centres website.

Matkus is Finland's only Ingka Centres shopping center, opened in 2012 in Kuopio next to Highway 5. It was named after Lake Matkus nearby. Matkus Lake brings together North and South Kallavesi Lakes – just like Matkus brings together people.

Matkus has almost 80 shops under a single roof, and an IKEA store. You can also spend time together in the Olopuisto park, catering for the needs of a range of users. Many annual events and community meetings are organized in Matkus. Sustainability plays an important role in the daily operation of the shopping center and its development, which is reflected in the day-to-day solutions now and in the future.

This is what Matkus is – more together.
